Abstract

1431347 Edge connectors SOCAPEX 2 July 1973 [30 June 1972] 31502/73 Heading H2E A connector comprises an insulating body with a plurality of strip contacts, each contact comprising two straight parallel parts 2, 4 adapted to mate with contacts of a complementary connector (not shown) and with terminals 8 on a circuit board 6 and linked by a resilient third part 10 inclined to said two parts, the part 4 having positioning and fixing means 23, 25, 26 engaging the body for locating the contacts. The body comprises a main portion 3 and an extending portion 1, the latter having shallow grooves 11 in which the parts 2 are located and protrude therefrom. A groove 5 in the body receives the edge of the board and terminal ends of the parts 4 resiliently bear on the board contacts 8. Laterally projecting members 23 and tags 25, 26 engage fixing locations 24, 27, 28 of the body to secure the contacts longitudinally. As shown each contact passes through a respective opening 22 in the body but in another embodiment (Fig. 2) they seat in slots (30). In Fig. 3 (not shown) the third part (42) of the contact is inclined at 45 degrees to the two parts instead of the 90 degrees shown in Fig. 1.
