Abstract
1429651 Organic nitriles IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 July 1973 [31 July 1972] 35639/72 Heading C2C Organic nitriles are obtained by reacting olefins with hydrogen cyanide in the presence of complexes of Group Ib metal salts and organic nitriles, the complexes being formed by mixing the metal salts with the organic nitriles before or at the same time as they are mixed with the olefins and hydrogen cyanide. For example, pentenenitriles and methylbutene nitriles may be produced from butadiene.
