1427724 Magnetic recording media EMI LTD 28 March 1973 [28 March 1972] 14365/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division C7] A magnetic recording medium includes a layer of magnetic metallic material on a substrate, and a layer of polyisobutylene over said metallic layer, to reduce wear. The substrate may be plastics, in the form of a tape or disc; the tape may have a backing layer, to reduce slippage and wear, of BaSO 4 or C particles, or it may have magnetic material on both sides. The magnetic material, e.g. Co-Cr alloy, and the polyisobutylene, may be vacuum vapour deposited.
