Abstract
1423643 Yeast AGENCY OF INDUSTRIAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE & INDUSTRY and MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Inc 9 May 1974 [11 May 1973] 20594/74 Heading C6F Saccharomyces metha-nonfoams nov. sp. (FERM P-1927) (NRRL Y-8026) is aerobically cultured in a medium containing methanol as the main carbon source, at a temperature in the range of from 10‹ to 37‹C and at a pH in the range 2-7 and the resulting yeast cells are recovered from the culture medium and dried. The methanol concentration, which should not exceed 6 wt per cent, may suitably be maintained at 0.05 to 1À5 wt per cent by supplementing with fresh methanol in an amount corresponding to the amount of methanol consumed.
