1417105 Liquid treatment apparatus BENYSTROM 27 June 1974 28493 Headings C7B and C7E Apparatus for treating articles with liquids, e.g. pre- and post-electro-plating treatments, comprises a treatment bath 6 and a plurality of collaterally arranged supply chambers 2-5, there being a pump 12 with a suction orifice 13 which is movable over and along one end of the chambers 2-5 and which is vertically movable for immersion into a selected chamber, the pump discharging into bath 6; and an outlet 17 in the base of the bath 6 whose orifice 16 is movable over and along the other end of the chambers 2-5 in synchronism with the suction orifice whereby liquid discharged by the pump is returned to its bath of origin. The pump may be centrifugal and mounted on endless chain 10. A similar chain carries orifice 16, sprockets 11 and 19 being connected by shaft 21 to ensure the required synchronism. The duct 18 may be slewably connected at the outlet 17 or may be flexible like the pump discharge duct 22. Motors 14 and 20 respectively raise or lower orifice 13 and control the endless chains. Bath 6 may carry an electroplating barrel 7 which is rotated. Specified treatments are pickling and etching before plating, and pickling and chromating after plating, with intermediate rinsing steps. For these latter the rinse water may be charged separately to one of the chambers and discharged outside the system. Overall operation may be programme controlled.
