Abstract

1410692 Patterned enamels BAYER RICKMANN GmbH 7 Sept 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 42090/73 Heading C1M A decorative enamel coating is produced on an aluminium containing substrate by coating the substrate in an enamel slip; working the surface of the slip while still moist to produce a pattern on the slip; and firing the slip and substrate to produce a patterned enamel coating. A second slip may be applied to the first slip before firing. The pattern is preferably produced using paint brushes, rollers, sponges or doctors. The firing temperature is in the range 500‹ to 600‹ C. Two enamel frits are disclosed, one containing in percentage by weight SiO 2 28À9; TiO 2 21À7; K 2 O 16À3; Na 2 O 13À5; B 2 O 3 4; Si 2 O 2À2; SnO 2 5À6; Bi 2 O 3 5À6; CaO 2À2; and a second containing PbO 37À4; SiO 2 30À0; TiO 2 12À7; K 2 O 2À2; Na 2 O 13À8; Si 2 O 2À3; Sb 2 O 3 1À6.
