Abstract

1410558 Double glazing SUPERSEAL CORP 27 Sept 1973 [19 Dec 1972] 45370/73 Heading E1R A double glazed window comprises glass sheets 12, 14 having their edges separated by a continuous spacer 16 and received in a U-section portion of a vinyl plastics border element 18, a flange 30 extending from the base of the portion to form a groove with one leg 22 of the portion, and metallic strips 32 having parts secured in the groove. The legs of the border element have inner lips 26, 26 forming recesses for adhesive. Leg 22 and flange 30 have lips 36, 38 which are engaged by lips 40, 42 on the metal strip 32. An extension of the metal strip adjacent lip 40 engages the pane 12 to transmit heat. The sealed unit is located by insulating joint (48), neoprene shims, and screws (52) extending through an L-shaped reinforcement (54) and flange 30, and a joint backing (56). Then metal strips 32 are added. A pressure equalisation tube (50) may be provided.
