Abstract
1409122 Trays MACMILLAN BLOEDEL CONTAINERS Ltd 14 Sept 1973 [5 Jan 1973] 771/73 Heading B8P A chamfered corner on a cardboard or like tray is formed by two straight linear cuts 11, 13 which are parallel to each other and normal to one edge of the blank, or are both normal each to one of the two edges at the corner, in each case no part of the blank being removed at the chamber. The blank shown in Fig. 3 is folded along lines 15, 16, 19 and 17, 18 so that the end of wall W 1 overlaps on the outside the chamfered corner and the end of wall W 2 . In a modification (Fig. 4A), not shown, an edge 12 of the triangular corner portion is extended to lie against the inside of wall W 2 . In another construction, Fig. 5A, the cut 11 is normal to fold line 15 and a similar cut lies normal to fold line 19. Triangular portions on the corner part then lie against the inside of walls 101, 102 as shown. A triangular part 100 may be left to extend above the tray walls to protect the contents or may be cut off along line 23. The corner portions and walls are secured together by glue or staples. The tray and its contents may be shrink wrapped.
