Abstract

1408575 Turntables T COLEMAN 23 March 1973 [19 Feb 1972] 7817/72 Heading B7J A turntable for motor vehicles comprises a pair of elongate channel members 10 and 11 having downwardly inclined ends 28 to enable a motor vehicle to be driven thereon, the members 10 and 11 being disposed substantially horizontally and spaced apart parallel to one another by a cross member 13 which is supported for rotation in a horizontal plane relative to a support plate 21 resting on the ground 22. As shown, the axis of rotation of the assembly formed by the members 10, 11 and 13 is vertically disposed at the centre of the assembly (at a centre bolt 26) but it may alternatively be displaced towards one end of the assembly while remaining in the longitudinal vertical centre line thereof. The spacing of members 10 and 11 may be varied using bolts 17 passing through slots 18 in the cross member. A central protuberance 19 on the underside of member 13 has an annular groove 20 which, together with a corresponding groove 24 in the plate 21, accommodates balls 25 for rotation of the cross member 13. The support plate 21 has holes 23 for bolts to secure it to the ground.
