Abstract

1407195 Weighing electrically M BARTON 20 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 49051/71 Heading G1N Weighing apparatus comprises a platform 1 supported on resilient members (not shown) so as to be displaceable by the weight of an animal or other load and transducers 2, 3, 4 providing on line 8 signals representing the loads or the individual transducers which signals are passed to a digital display or printer 11 by way of a circuit 10 wherein the signals are summed and the resultant signal is fed through a time constant network 19 having at the initiation of weighing a shorter time constant and after a predetermined time a longer time constant. Weighing is initiated by an animal interrupting a light beam 6 to a photo-electric device 7 which triggers two multi-vibrators (14, 16), Fig. 2 (not shown), producing input pulses (15, 17) of shorter and longer duration to terminals X, Y respectively of network 19 thereby switching more or less resistance into an RC network to vary the time constant. The transducers may be linear variable differential transformers or strain gauges. A gangway type of platform (40), Fig. 6 (not shown), may be used. Instead of the light beam arrangement to initiate weighing, the weight signal itself may trigger a threshold detector set say at 140 lbs.
