Abstract

1404975 Elevated railways MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AG 26 Oct 1972 [29 Oct 1971] 49506/72 Heading B7L An elevated railway comprises a vehicle 3 supported from rails 6 of a beam structure 5 by lifting magnets 4 arranged one at either end of linear motor driving magnets 2, the magnets 2 and 4 being arranged on upwardly facing surfaces of the vehicle and co-operate respectively with aluminium and steel reaction rails 1, 6a arranged one above the other on downwardly facing surfaces of the rails 6. Lateral guiding magnets 7 are arranged opposite canted end surfaces of rails 6 and either rollers 10 or skids 11 provided to support the vehicle in the event of failure of the lifting magnets. In a modification the vehicle is supported below the structure 5 by the lifting magnets.
