1404696 Thermographic processes for producing stencils ASAHI DOW Ltd and RISO KAGAKU CORP 1 Aug 1973 36613/73 Heading G2C A thermographic process for producing a stencil comprises imagewise exposing a heat-sensitive stencil comprising an ink-pervious stencil support and a layer of a biaxially stretched thermoplastic film, the film being stretched to at least 2.5 times its original longitudinal and transverse directions, to flash lasting between 10<SP>-4</SP> and 10<SP>-3</SP> of a second and in which at least 50 per cent of the radiation longer than 0.7 micron emitted to between 0.7 and 1.2 microns to produce perforations in the film. The film may be a vinylidene chloride/vinyl chloride copolymer, polyvinylidene chloride, polypropylene, polyethylene or polyvinyl acetate which has been biaxially stretched 2.5 to 6 times.
