Abstract
1404133 Anemometers ABBIRKO INSTRUMENTS Ltd 20 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 34060/71 Heading G1N An anemometer comprises a pair of transducers 12, 12a producing signals whose frequency is a measure of speed and whose phase displacement measures direction. As shown the outputs are fed to pulse shapers 3, 3a. One output from 3 is fed to a frequency-to-D.C. converter integrated circuit to provide a measure of speed, Fig. 1 (not shown). The output from 3 is also fed as a "set" pulse to a transistor bi-stable circuit 18 Fig. 5, which subsequently receives a "reset" pulse from 3a. The output from circuit 18 is a pulse signal whose width has one or other of two values depending on the direction of rotation Fig. 4 (not shown). The pulses are integrated at 21 and if this signal is large, which occurs for one of the two rotational directions, a relay 22 is operated to reverse switches 24 connected to a centre zero meter 25. The speed signal is fed to this meter which accordingly displays both speed and sense.
