Abstract
1496991 Driving mirrors J CONNOR 10 Jan 1977 [16 Jan 1976] 01731/76 Heading G2J A plastics driving mirror comprises two convex surfaces 4, 5 whose radii C2, C 1 in the vertical plane are vertically separated so that the crosssection is wedge like, the surfaces also being convex when seen in horizontal cross section, and the surface 5 being of high reflectivity. The mirror is mounted for adjustment between a first position in which the surface 5 reflects a scene to the observer (normal) and a second position wherein surface 4 reflects a lesser amount of light (dazzling scene). The surface 5 is preferably aluminized, and surface 4 may be partly aluminized. The mirror may be made by injection moulding. The plastics material may be polymethyl methacrylate polyamide or polycarbonate, and may be tinted. Preferably the radii of both surfaces in horizontal cross-section are the same, and likewise the radii in vertical cross-section are the same. More preferably all radii are the same (i.e. the surfaces are spherical) and are of 1500mm.
