Abstract
1492815 A round feeding device BOFORS AB 14 Jan 1975 [15 Jan 1974] 1583/75 Heading F3C A weapon-carrying vehicle has chain-driven magazines 1, 1, Fig. 1 each of which has semicylindrical receptacles 7, Fig. 4, for rounds 28, the receptacles each being provided at each end thereof with a ball joint 8 and a link 9. The latter are positioned in the respective chain 10, Fig. 8, and are guided by respective rollers 11, in respective tracks 12, Fig. 4. The rounds 28 are held in the receptacles 7 by catches 21, 22, Fig. 5, and are ejected from the receptacles by members 26. The receptacles 7 are provided with guide members 27 for engagement with a guide rail 20, Fig. 8, so as to prevent rotation of the receptacles. Each magazine 1 has a pendulum 3, Fig. 1, for transferring the rounds to a ramming position, the pendulums working alternately. Each pendulum 3 has an arm 37, Fig. 9, a plate 38 which is rotatably supported at 57 by the arm 37, and a guide 39 with a round-holder 40. The latter have arms 44, 47, Fig. 10, which are received in respective grooves 45, 49, Fig. 11, in the plate 38. In use a desired round is fed to the fetching position of the pendulum. The plate 38 rotates about 57, Fig. 9, and the round-holder 40 is simultaneously opened. The pendulum swings about axis 5 or 6, Fig. 1, the round-holder 40 moves the catches 21, 22, Fig. 5, to release the round in its receptacle 7. The round is ejected by member 26, and strikes the round-holder 40 which, having portions rotatable at 50 and 51, Fig. 12, grips the round. The plate 38 returns to the starting position by rotating about 57, Fig. 9, so as to be in alignment with barrel 2, Fig. 1, of a gun, when the pendulum swings to the ramming position. When the round has been rammed into the breech (not shown) of the gun, the rammer (not shown) and the pendulum return to the starting positions and the gun is then fired.
