Abstract
1491251 Hydraulic shock absorbers ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO Ltd 19 Oct 1974 45340/74 Heading F2S [Also in Division B7] A vehicle wheel suspension strut comprises a tubular support member (not shown) carrying a stub axle or other wheel mounting and housing an hydraulic tube-within-a-tube shock absorber whose outer tube 20 is made of semi-rigid plastics material and has an integral end closure which encloses the base valve assembly 18. The tube 20 is moulded from polyethylene or an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and can expand to accommodate changes in piston rod volume, with the aid of axially extending corrugations 42 (see Fig. 2). The tube also has circumferentially extending corrugations 44.
