Abstract
1490921 Roofing slabs CARROLL RESEARCH Inc 13 Feb 1975 [8 July 1974] 6087/75 Heading E1W A roofing structure comprises roof support members 30, roof decking 31, and gypsum plaster board 32 covered by a layer of synthetic polymer foam 33 which has a waterproof wear resistant upper surface 16, 17. The plasterboard and foam are joined by staples 37, and the foam is preferably polystyrene or polyurethane If the foam is polyurethane the waterproof surface 16 may be applied directly to the foam, but if it is polystyrene a second gypsum plaster board 34 is interposed between the foam layer 33 and the waterproof surface 16. The assembly may be attached to a steel roof deck 31 by self tapping screws 35 in which case the plaster board is <SP>3</SP>/ 6 " thick, or it may be attached to a precast wood fibre cement bonded board, Fig. 2 (not shown), in which case the plaster board is ¢" thick. The wood fibre board may be supported by sheet metal beams which have a central vertical web, two symmetrical legs extending downwardly at an angle of between 45‹ and 75‹ to the horizontal with horizontal flanges at their lower edges, and a stiffening member in the form of a triangle at the top of the web, Fig. 2 (not shown). Grouting is provided between adjacent slab assemblies.
