Abstract
1490598 Magnetic separators MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 22 Sept 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 38730/75 Heading B2J Magnetic materials, such as iron ores of different degrees of metallization, are separated according to their magnetic susceptibilities by feeding them over the top of a rotating conical drum I in which there are magnets 7, which can be stationary or rotate with the drum I, the materials leaving the surface of the drum 1 when the centrifugal force, which increases as they descend the drum, exceeds the magnetic force they experience, which is constant. Plates 5, 6 segregate the materials according to the point at which they leave the drum 1. The magnets 7 are preferably of such strength as to bring the materials close to the saturation level of magnetization.
