Abstract

1490209 Extraction of thromboplastin BEHRINGWERKE AG 12 Nov 1974 [13 Nov 1973] 48934/74 Heading C3H [Also in Division G1] A thromboplastic-containing extract which is free from thrombin and sensitive to factors VII and X is obtained from thrombogenic tissue, e.g. human or animal brain or placenta. by washing the tissue until free from blood, suspending the washed tissue in water or alkaline aqueous solution, adjusting the pH to from 10 to 12, bringing the resulting suspension to a pH within the range of from 4À5 to 7À0 and separating the thromboplastin-containing supernatant. The extract may be mixed with calcium ions to obtain a diagnostic agent for testing blood (see Division G1).
