Abstract

1488981 Perinone compounds HOECHST AG 3 Oct 1975 [26 Oct 1974] 40562/75 Heading C4P The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein Ar is arylene, the bonds to the two N atoms being in ortho or peri position, A is a group consisting of x -CO- groups or y -NR- groups where x is 1 or 2, y is 1 or 2 and x + y is 3 or 4, and R is H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, aralkyl (i.e. C 1 -C 4 alkyl), or aryl, A being bound in the ortho or peri position to Ar, X is H or a non- water-solubilizing substituent and m is 1, 2, 3 or 4. Ar is preferably phenylene or naphthylene and A is -N(R)N(R)CO-, -CON(R)N(R)-, -N(R)COCON(R)-, -CON(R)N(R)CO-, -N(R)CON(R)CO-, -CON(R)CON(R)-, - N(R)-CON(R)- or -CON(R)CO-. X may be halogen, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, OH, nitro, amino, acylamino, benzoyl-amino, phenoxy or phenylthio, and n is 1, 2 or 3. They are prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula wherein X and m are as above with an ortho or peri diamine of the general formula or a salt thereof, preferably in a solvent, e.g. water or a polar water-miscible organic solvent at 80-150‹ C. and optionally in presence of an acid as catalyst or an acid binding agent. The pigments are used to pigment cellulose ethers and esters, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, aminoplasts, alkyd resins, phenoplasts, polycarbonates, polyolefins, P.V.C., polyacrylonitrile, polyacrylic acid esters, rubber, casein, silicone and silicone resins, lacquers, paints and inks.
