Abstract

1485157 Electro-photographic processes COULTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS Inc 16 Aug 1974 [17 Aug 1973 (2)] 36158/74 Addition to 1438870 Heading G2H Two modifications of the parent invention are claimed. A photo-conductive film is charged to a peak voltage, imagewise exposed immediately following the charging step, and toned immediately following the exposure. In addition either: (a) the peak voltage is inversely proportional to the light intensity and the exposure is for a fixed period or (b) The peak voltage is fixed and the exposure time and/or exposure aperture is controlled in accordance with the light intensity and peak voltage. The apparatus used is substantially the same as that of the parent. Preferably in method (A) a photocell 32 measures light intensity and an electrometer 34 measures charge in order to provide a peak voltage inversely proportional to light intensity. Exposure time is then fixed by a timer 65. Preferably in method (B) the peak voltage is fixed and during exposure, charge on an unilluminated portion of the film is monitored by electrometer 34 and compared with a reference 68 set according to light intensity in order to control exposure time.
