Abstract

1483981 Terminals CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 23 March 1976 [1 April 1975] 13202/75 Heading H2E An electrical contact formed from metal, e.g. nickel silver, strip has a bridge-shaped portion 6 with a slot or slots 7 and tags 8. Connection is made by pressing insulated wires into the slots 7 to rupture the insulation, the tags 8 then being crimped over the wires. A raised formation between the tags may be provided, forming a groove on both sides to accept a wire. The top portion of the bridge may have a central downward bend (Figs 3a, 3b, 3c, not shown) to improve its grip on the wire. A socket contact with arms 1, 2, stop 5 and a tongue 4 for retaining the contact in a housing may be provided, or a pin may be formed, e.g. form arms such as 1, 2. Reference is made to Specification 1,450,798 and the contact is stated to be suitable for use in the connector described therein.
