Abstract

1482276 Valves INRECO AB 23 Oct 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 45933/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A valve unit comprises a body 26 operable in a sealed sliding mode within a bore, the unit consisting of a body 26a fixed axially relative to a stem 22, and a valve member 26b movable axially along the stem by rotation thereof to provide a channel between the body and member of variable cross-sectional area. As shown the member and body have co-operating V-shapes defining channels the edges 26c of which may be arcuate. Rotation of the stem is converted to axial movement by threaded sleeves 22a engaging threaded holes in the members 22b. The body may be in two parts separated by a seal 27 with two movable members operable by opposite handed screws. The valve unit is applicable to a three way valve (20) Fig. 1 (not shown) for the control of water circulated by a pump (5) through a heat exchanger 6 from supply and return mains (1, 10). The position of the valve body 26 may be determined by thermostatic control to proportion water flow rate between the heat exchanger and a by-pass (12) while control of the total flow rate is effected by adjustment of channels between the V formations. The valve may alternatively be operated in a two way mode with the by-pass (12) blanked off by a disc (14).
