Abstract

1478666 Internal combustion engine starters ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 1 Aug 1974 [2 Aug 1973] 33926/74 Heading F1K A starter for an internal combustion engine includes a starter pinion 62 arranged on a transmission shaft 33 journalled in a drive-shaft 3 of a starter motor 1, the starter pinion being axially displaceable and rotatable relative to the driveshaft, and a freewheel clutch 51 and a magnetic switch 8 arranged coaxially of the starter motor, a shift member 28 of the magnetic switch abutting against the transmission shaft 33. The transmission shaft having a coarse screw-threaded portion 48 on which a screw sleeve 49 is seated, the screw sleeve forming an inner race of the freewheel clutch 51, and an outer race 53 of the freewheel clutch is rotatably mounted on the transmission shaft and is rigidly connected to the driveshaft 3 the transmission shaft being axially displaceable relative to the freewheel clutch. The switching rod 37 pulls the switching bridge 40 against the contacts 18 and 22. The main current is switched on and the rotating drive-shaft 3 screws the starter pinion 62 fully into the toothed rim 63 by means of the freewheel clutch 51 and the coarse thread 48.
