Abstract
1474732 Ventilating paint-spray booths CARRIER DRYSYS Ltd 11 March 1975 [26 March 1974] 13367/74 Heading F4V A method of controlling air conditions in a paint-spraying booth comprises creating in the booth a first zone 3 of downwardly moving air through which the articles 2 pass and which has the heat content thereof controlled to suit the kind of painting process to be employed, second zones 4 of downwardly moving air one each on opposite sides of the first zone 3, the air of which has the heat and water vapour content thereof controlled according to the degree of comfort required for the operators, and third zones 6 of relatively stagnant layers of air which are aerodynamically defined by the downwardly moving air in the first and second zones to form buffer zones of air between the first and second zones. Air diffusers 13-15 covered by a common filter open into the booth. The filter includes a first portion 16, two second portions 17 at an angle to the first portion 16, and two third portions 18 which are of arcuate form. The air diffusers are in communication with an air conditioning unit having a pre-heater 38, a blower 39, a primary heater 40, an air cooling and dehumidifying coil 33 with a cooling spray 34, heater coils 22-24, and balancing dampers 32. The air conditioning unit may be in circuit with an oven waste-heat recovery device 41, a cooling tower 48, an electrically-operated refrigeration unit 19 and an absorption refrigeration unit 20.
