Abstract

1474757 Casting apparatus KOHASZATI GYAREPITO VALLALAT 9 Aug 1974 [10 Aug 1973] 35119/74 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] A pressure casting apparatus is provided with an induction pump which forces molten metal in a container 56 upwards into a mould 43 through a channel 70. A melting furnace 64 supplies molten metal to the container via two channels 52 which pass between adjacent legs of a closed iron core 54 provided with a primary winding 49 and which, together with the molten metal in the channels 52, constitutes a single phase transformer which heats the metal in the channels 52. The induction pump comprises a ferromagnetic yoke 69 immersed in the molten metal in the container 56, a channel cover 71 and a laminated iron core 73 provided with windings 74, the core and windings being located outside the heat insulation 67 of the container 56. The furnace 64 may supply melt to three containers 56 and the melt may be drained off from the channels 52 through a pipe 79 provided with a stopper 78. A heating element 77 is provided to melt the solid metal plug which forms in the pipe 79, and a further heating element 68 is provided at the top of the channel 70.
