Abstract

1474246 Metal complex onium salts MALLORY BATTERIES Ltd 1 March 1976 [29 Nov 1974] 51848/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division H1] Novel Group VI-onium silver or copper halide salts used as solid electrolytes may be made by heating a mixture of the onium halide and metal halide or by adding an aqueous solution of the onium halide to the powdered metal halide heating, filtering off the solid and drying. Suitable products are of the type nMI, Z<SP>+</SP>I<SP>-</SP> or nMI, Z 2 <SP>2+</SP>2I<SP>-</SP>; where M is Cu or Ag, Z<SP>+</SP> is of the form R 1 R 2 R 3 Y or R 1 R 5 Y or R 7 Y and Z 2 <SP>2+</SP> is of the form R 1 R 2 YR 3 R 4 or R 5 YR 8 YR 6 or in which Y is S<SP>+</SP>, Se<SP>+</SP> or Te<SP>+</SP>, R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 are straight or branched chain organic groups, R 5 Y and YR 6 are cyclic organic groups containing Y, R 7 is a cyclic organic group containing Y adjacent to a double bond, and R 8 and R 9 are organic bridge groups linking two Y groups, and R 1 and R 9 inclusive may contain heteroatoms, and n is 3À0 to 40À0.
