Abstract

1473637 Bodywork panels L P COLLEN 29 April 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 4457/73 Heading B7B [Also in Division E1] A four-sided vehicle bodywork panel, e.g. a dropside panel of a vehicle such as a trailer, semi-trailer, rigid vehicle or freight container, has hollow extruded members extending along the four sides of the panel to form a peripheral frame, the members each being of closed crosssection, and an infilling wall attached at its periphery to the peripheral frame. In Fig. 4, square hollow members 30 having a pair of inwardly facing flanges to receive an infilling wall composed of corrugated sections 35, 36, 37 are extruded from aluminium. The infilling wall is secured to the flanges either by rivets 50 or by welding. In Fig. 6, a wall part 46 of corrugated cross-section forms an integral part of a hollow extruded frame member 41 comprising a tubular element comprising a box-section portion 40 and a portion 42<SP>1</SP> of rectangular cross-section. The drawings which accompanied the provisional Specification (not shown) disclose a tubular element of simple box section having an integral corrugated wall part.
