Abstract

1472815 Water-soluble trisazo dyes BAYER AG 15 Oct 1975 [6 Dec 1974] 42262/75 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula (wherein R is C 1-6 alkyl; B is phenyl, 2- or 3- sulpho-phenyl or 2,5-disulphophenyl; R 4 is H or alkyl; R 5 is H, alkyl, OH, alkoxy, NH 2 , NO 2 , Cl, CO 2 H or SO 3 H; and R 6 is selected from the same values as R 5 except SO 3 H) are prepared by coupling one mole of an appropriate bis-diazotized dialkoxy-diamino-diphenyl with, on the one hand, phenol or an appropriately substituted phenol and, on the other hand, the monoazo dyestuff obtained by acid coupling of diazotized BNH 2 with Chicago acid, the couplings being in any desired sequence, and then, if desired, alkylating the product to introduce R 4 when alkyl. They may be used to dye or print natural or synthetic materials containing hydroxyl or amino groups, e.g. cotton, regenerated cellulose, paper, wool, silk, polyamides and leather. Lithium, sodium and various amine salts of the dyestuffs in concentrated aqueous solutions are described.
