Abstract

1471838 Optical resolution of 2-amino-1- butanol NIPPON SODA CO Ltd 26 March 1975 [4 April 1974 (2)] 12598/75 Heading C2C The optical resolution of dl-2-amino-1-butanol is effected by using as a resolving agent d- and/or l-N-benzoyl-trans-2-aminocyolohexanecarboxylic acid. In one process using the d-acid the resolution is effected by forming a solution of dl-2-amino-1-butanol in a solvent, adding thereto d-N-benzoyl-trans-2-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid, separating the resulting precipitated crystals of the d-2-amino-1-butanol salt of d-N-benzoyl-trans-2-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid from the mother liquor, dissolving these crystals in water and adding a mineral acid to the solution to precipitate the d - N - benzoyl - trans - 2 - aminocarboxylic acid, adding an alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxide to the aqueous mother liquor, distilling water therefrom and extracting the residue with an organic solvent, and distilling off the extract solvent to obtain d-2-amino-1- butanol. In another process both the d- and lisomers of N - benzoyl - trans - 2 - aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid are used as shown in the accompanying drawing.
