Abstract
146,770. Rowe, C. H. Nov. 3, 1919. Valves.-In a device for preventing leakage between a valve-stem and guide, of the type in which a sleeve or cap A having an aperture 2 for the valve stem and a flange 5 for the valve spring is slipped over the guide 8 and retains a felt or other washer 4 against the end of the guide, the sleeve or cup A is slotted as shown at 6 so as to be expansible to fit over valve-guides of different sizes and shapes. In a modification, in which the slots 6 extend to the base. the sleeve may be made by stamping sheet metal to form the tongues 7, which are then bent up at right-angles. In this form, some of the tongues may be short and serve merely for retaining the washer. Specification 134,363 is referred to.
