1465175 Additive for fuel EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 10 May 1974 [4 June 1973] 20675/74 Headings C5G and C5W An additive composition for improving the flowability of petroleum middle distillate fuel comprises (a) a microcrystalline wax (defined) and (b) a petroleum-middle-distillate-soluble hydrocarbyl succinamic acid, or amine or ammonium salt thereof having the formula wherein R is a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 0 or 1 site of olefinic unsaturation and from 14 to 40 carbon atoms, one of X<SP>2</SP> and X<SP>3</SP> is -NYY<SP>1</SP> wherein Y and Y<SP>1</SP> are aliphatic hydrocarbyl groups of 14 to 40 C atoms, the other of X<SP>2</SP> and X<SP>3</SP> being wherein n varies from 0 to 1 (defined) Y<SP>2</SP> and Y<SP>3</SP> are H, a C 1 -C 30 aliphatic hydrocarbon or C 3 -C 30 oxyaliphatic hydrocarbon (defined), the weight ratio of (a) to (b) being 20 : 1 to 1 : 20. Also there may be included fuelsoluble copolymers of ethylene and an olefin (defined) of M.W. from 1000 to 100,000.
