Abstract

1461748 Welding by fusion VEREINIGTE EDELSTAHLWERKE AG 17 Sept 1975 [28 Sept 1974] 38169/75 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] A welding composition comprises C up to 0À05, Si 1À0-5À0, Mn up to 1À0, Cr 20 to 50, B 0À5-3À0, Cu 0-3À0, Fe 0-5À0, Ni Balance where Cr is not less than 10+ per cent B+ 13 in the form of coated or bare wire or rods, filled wires or strips, cast shapes or in powder form gives a weld deposit of high strength, good corrosion and intercrystalline resistance with high abrasion and wear resistance when TIG welded or in the case of powder, with plasma arc or flame welding, and is suitable for nuclear welding applications where high corrosion resistance is essential. In a further embodiment, one of the constituents particularly B, may be supplied separately, i.e. in a flux. Examples of welding using bare rods, cast shapes and powdered materials, together with a Ni-Cu tubular sleeve containing the remainder of the constituents are given. The Specification also refers to build-up welding, see examples.
