Abstract

1461028 Optical recording and playback ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 10 July 1975 [10 July 1974] 29147/75 Heading G5R Tracks extending transverse to the direction of motion of a record carrier, e.g. a tape 8 or a disc (Fig. 5, not shown), are scanned for recording or playback by a light beam which oscillates symmetrically across the carrier. As shown, Fig. 1, two modulated laser beams are directed by two mirrors 7, 7<SP>1</SP> which oscillate sinusoidally 180 degrees out of phase with each other and the beams are blocked alternately by the modulators 4, 4<SP>1</SP> to record a succession of parallel transverse tracks (Fig. 2, not shown). Alternatively, Fig. 3, a single beam is deflected transversely by a first sinusoidally oscillating mirror 12 and longitudinally at double the frequency by a second sinusoidally oscillating mirror 13.
