Abstract
1458605 Apparatus for preparing slide specimens GEOMETRIC DATA CORP 4 Nov 1974 [5 Nov 1973] 47665/74 Heading G2J Apparatus for preparing blood smears on slides comprises a slide support 24 and a spreader 142, together with control means for reciprocating the support 24 relative to the spreader 142, said control means including delay means for maintaining the support 24 in its extreme right hand position as viewed in Fig. 5 before returning the support 24 to the illustrated, initial position. Before separating the apparatus a drop of blood is placed towards the left hand end of a slide 30, at an indicated position. A switch is then operated and the slide 30 is automatically moved beneath the spreader 142 until the latter contacts the drop of blood. The return movement of the slide is delayed until the drop of blood has spread along the edge of the spreader 142. An electrical control circuit Fig. 12 (not shown) is described.
