Abstract

1451825 Electric motors DAINI SEIKOSHA KK 26 March 1974 [11 April 1973] 13286/74 Heading H2A A stepping motor comprises a cylindrical permanent magnet rotor 1 of diameter less than 2À5 mm., and two stator polepieces 2, 3, each having a part-cylindrical pole face, the two polepieces together encompassing at least 300 degrees of the circumference of the rotor, at least one of the part-cylindrical pole faces being eccentric with respect to the rotor axis so that the air gap is non-uniform in the circumferential direction. As shown the polepiece 2 is adjustable by means of screw 7 to vary the air gap and so give the rotor a preferred direction of rotation. The thickness of the stator polepieces in the axial direction is between 1 and 1À5 times the rotor axial thickness. The air gap 9 under the non-adjustable polepiece 3 is between 1 and 1À5 times the length of space 8 between the ends of the polepieces. The angle a shown is between 10 and 45 degrees and is preferably substantially 25 degrees.
