Abstract

1450114 Coating apparatus BOSTIK Ltd 30 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 50428/73 Heading B2L Powder material from a hopper 5 is fed by a tube 4 to compartments 3 in a rotatable wheel 3 and carried between the wheel and a belt 7 to a position between two oppositely charged electrodes 15, 16 to be electrostatically deposited on a substrate 13. Excess powder is released through a passage 12 to return to the hopper 5. The periphery of wheel 2 and belt 7 move at the same speed and the belt tension can be adjusted by means of an adjustable pulley 10. In a modification (Fig. 2 not shown) the wheel comprises a single compartment and is rotatable about a vertical axis. The level in the compartment is maintained constant by passing under a fixed doctor blade.
