Abstract
1449560 Blasting caps HERCULES Inc 19 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 54906/74 Heading F3A [Also in Division E1] A blasting cap comprises an initiator charge 17 ignitable in response to the thermal detonation energy of an explosive gas mixture that is conveyed into a space 18, through a conduit 19, and thenignited. A conduit 21, or an opening in the sidewall of the cap, permits the space 18 to be purged of gases other than the explosive gas. A plurality of the caps can be connected in series so as to have a common gas flow or they can be individually connected to a supply manifold. The caps are fired by igniting the gas upstream of the first cap (see Division E1).
