Abstract
1448676 Lasers INDUSTRY SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 18 Feb 1974 [12 Jan 1973] 1675/73 Heading H1C In an apparatus for maintaining constant a parameter, e.g. wavelength or intensity, of the optical output of a laser a heating or cooling arrangement independent of any means for optically exciting the laser is controlled in dependence upon intensity changes in the laser output to maintain constant the parameter. As shown, a portion of the laser output generates a control signal from an amplifier and power transistor, and this signal is fed back to a heater or Peltier heater/cooler. The control signal may be derived from the difference between signals representative of the intensity corresponding to respective polarization planes in the output, the separation of the planes being effected by a polarizing beam-splitter Fig. 2 (not shown).
