Abstract
1447775 Fibre reinforced concrete TEIJIN Ltd 24 Sept 1973 [25 Sept 1972] 44731/73 Heading E1W A concrete structure contains short fibres b intertwined with at least one piece of cloth c. The structure may be prefabricated or formed in citu. The cloth may be broad or of narrow ribbon like form and be woven, knit or non woven fabric providing it is sufficiently open to permit the passage of cement paste e.g. 10-25 yarns per inch. The fabric may be formed of fibres of cellulose, polyamide, P.V.A., P.V.C., polyester, polyacrylonitrile, polyurethane, polypropylene, polyethylene, glass, cotton, animal hair, silk or asbestos. The short fibres may also be any of these materials and have a diameter of 5-100 microns and a length of 5-30 mm. They may be present in the cement in an amount 0.2-2% by weight. The cement may be portland, magnesia alumina or a mixture of sand and lime and may be aerated or incorporate expanded shale, gravel, sand or pigments. The cloth may be previously treated with a water soluble resin so that it may bond more easily with the cement and be more easily entrained with fibres.
