Abstract
1446398 Collapsible core DOW-MAC CONCRETE Ltd 4 Feb 1975 [28 March 1974] 13873/74 Heading B5A A U-shaped reinforced concrete beam A is cast around a core 3 comprising side members 6a mounted by pivoted links 15, 16 to a slide 17 moving on a central support 8. An attachment 18 of the slide is connected to lifting tackle 5, and includes a lock 19. The side members 6a, which are constructed from detachable, interchangeable sections, are guided by links 12 running along slots 14 in the core base 10, which is rigid with the central support 8. A plurality of supports 8 are mounted on pairs of cross-bars 4 that support mould side walls 2. In use.-The slide 17 is locked by the lock 19 in its lowermost position, to hold the core side members 6a in abutment with the core base 10 for moulding. The core is centralized by screws 21 abutting the struts 4. After moulding, the lock 19 is undone and the tackle 5 is raised to lift the slide 17, pivot the side members 6a upwardly and inwardly, to collapse the core, and finally to pivot the struts 4 and so swing the mould side walls 2 outwardly (see Specification 1,325,261) away from the moulded beam A (see Fig. 2, not shown).
