Abstract

1444878 Wrenches R C BONET 11 Nov 1974 [10 Nov 1973] 48697/74 Heading B3N [Also in Divisions B4 and B8] A combination tool, comprises a main plate 1 having an elongate handle portion provided at one end with a head portion, two spaced-apart projections 2 provided on the edge of the head portion, remote from the handle portion and serving for removing lids from metal boxes using the handle portion as a lever, an opening 3 formed in the head portion and partly bounded by a serrated edge 14 the opening being adapted to receive and engage a screw cap on a bottle or other container so that said screw cap can be unscrewed by turning the handle portion, a tin opener member 4 having a cutting edge, a metal piercing member 6 having a pointed end and a rod 5 having a slotted end for engaging the lid-opening tab of a sardine tin or the like, the tin opener member 4 being mounted on the hand portion and located on one side of the opening 3 therein and the metal piercing member 6 and the rod 5 being pivotally mounted on the head portion, one on each side of the opening 3 the metal piercing member and rod being foldable against opposite longitudinal edges of the handle portion when not in use. A corkscrew 12 and serrated edge lever 9 are also pivotally mounted on the handle 1, the lever 9 having a concave serrated portion 8 which co-operates with a concave serrated edge 7 on the handle to provide a wrench for unscrewing a screw cap or champagne cork. An end portion 10 of the handle and a projecting tongue 11 provide for removal of pressure caps and crown closure caps respectively.
