Abstract
1444521 Cu brazing alloy A JOHNSON & CO Inc 10 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 53436/74 Heading C7A [Also in Division B3] A brazing alloy of composition:- Mn 10-35% Zn 5-30% Ni 0-10% Cu 40-80% having a melting point below 955‹C. The alloy may be prepared in wire; rod or strip form and may be interposed between parts and heated to bond the parts. Exemplified materials joined using the alloy include alumina: plain carbon steel, plain carbon steel: plain carbon steel, sintered steel parts: wrought steel or cast iron, plain carbon steel: sintered titanium diboride or molybdenum disilicide or tungsten carbide. A flux comprising borax, boric acid, fluoride, borate and melting agents may be used in the brazing process which may be carried out in a furnace containing a reducing atmosphere e.g. cracked ammonia or a nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon monoxide mixture.
