Abstract

1442897 Gear-pumps or motors COMMERCIAL SHEARING Inc 11 Feb 1974 [14 March 1973] 06067/74 Heading F1F In a gear-pump or motor cheek plates 13 are urged against the gears (11, 12) Fig. 1 (not shown) by fluid supplied to the spaces between the plates and end covers 16, 17, the spaces being divided into several zones 35-38 by seals 30-33 in radial slots 27-30 in the end covers, the spaces being sealed radially inwardly by a pair of annular, substantially L-sectioned members 23, 25 defining an annular space 24 supplied with pressure fluid from the spaces via grooves 40 in the peripheral surface of member 25. The plates 13 are figure 8-shaped, and fluid is supplied to the spaces from the gears via peripheral cut-out portions (41-44) Fig. 2 (not shown) in the plates 13. An elastomeric ring 26 forms a seal between members 23 and 25.
