Abstract
1440150 Preparation of trans-4-aminomethylcyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 1 March 1974 9454/74 Heading C2C Trans - 4 - aminomethylcyclohexane - 1- carboxylic acid is prepared by simultaneously reducing and trans-isomerizing p-amino-methylbenzoic acid or an ester thereof in the presence of ruthenium catalyst and, as a solvent, an aqueous solution or a C 1 -C 6 alkanol solution of a strong acid, i.e. one which readily yields hydrogen ions in water or a C 1-6 alcohol, e.g. mineral acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, acetic acid &c. or an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal hydroxide. The reduction and isomerization is preferably conducted at a temperature of from 80 to 150 C. and in the presence of ruthenium oxide as catalyst.
