Abstract
1339341 Delivering measured quantities of liquid F A DELANEY 29 March 1972 [23 April 1971] 10958/71 Heading B8N An "optic" or other type measuring dispenser 35 incorporates a device which mutilates an emptied container 29 while it is being removed from the dispenser so that the container cannot be re-used with the dispenser. The device has a body portion 13 in which are formed three radial slots 19 containing spring-loaded cutting arms 23. A full container 29 is screwed on to the threads 13c on the body portion 13: on dispensing the first measured quantity, as the valve V moves upwardly it raises an actuator 17 against a spring 49. A shoulder 17b of the actuator 17 bears against a face 23c at the inner end of each arm 23 so pushing it outwardly against its biasing spring 47 beyond the internal diameter of the screw-threaded neck of the container 29. Spring-loaded latches 25 engage detents 23d in the arms 23, holding them in this position. When the container 29 has been emptied it is unscrewed from the dispenser and the blades 23a at the ends of the arms 23 cut the screw threaded portion of the container 29 away from the rest of the container which cannot be used again with the dispenser. A breather valve 53 may be provided from atmosphere to the underside of the body 13.
