Abstract

1333215 Reciprocating pumps F H WRIGHT DENTAL MFG CO Ltd 11 Jan 1971 [14 Oct 1969] 50454/69 Heading F1A [Also in Division A5] A needleless injector comprises a substantially tubular body with a median part 10 carrying a cocking lever 14, a front body part 12 housing a glass reservoir 21 and a chamber 22a and carries a detachable nozzle (28), and a rear body part 11. A plunger 15 passes through the reservoir 21 into the chamber 22a and when cocked by means of the lever 14 draws liquid from the reservoir 21 past a P.T.F.E. seal 23, which has a clearance about the plunger, into the chamber 22a. When the plunger is released it is propelled forward by a spring 18 and pressurises the fluid in chamber 22a which closes the seal 23. The fluid is forced past a ball valve which may be a resiliently deformable ball 26 or a spring loaded ball, Fig. 2 (not shown), thence through a jet washer 31 with a ruby insert (31a) and finally through the nozzle 28. The plunger 15 is held in the cocked position by a ball catch whose balls 19 engage a groove 20 around the plunger 15 and are held in place by a spring loaded button 17. The metal parts of the apparatus are of stainless steel.
