1333214 Glass ceramics G P BLOKHINA and M I NEIMAN 7 Dec 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 43988/69 Heading C1M A glass ceramic is formed by heat treatment of articles made from a glass consisting essentially of (1) SiO 2 and/or B 2 O 3 and/or Al 2 O 3 ; (2) SrO and/or BaO and/or CaO; (3) PbO; (4) TiO 2 ; (5) Nb 2 O 5 ; (6) MgO 0-15% by weight; (7) ZnO 0-5% by weight; (8) Bi 2 O 3 0-5% by weight; (9) MnO 2 0-5% by weight; (10) BeO 0-8% by weight; (11) Alkali metal oxides 0-10% by weight; the total amount of components (2), (3), (4) and (5) being from 40 to 95% by weight of the glass. Ranges of compositions are given as follows in percentages by weight: Nb 2 O 5 25-60; PbO 8-20; SiO 2 10-17; TiO 2 4-16; SrO 0-25; BaO 0-20 with optional additions of (1) MgO 2-8; (2) ZnO 1-5; (3) MgO 2-8; Bi 2 O 3 1-3; MnO 2 1-3.
