Abstract
1332733 Bedsteads H FICKLER 19 April 1971 [ 20 Feb 1970] 21770/71 Heading A4J In a two-tier bunk arrangement, the two bed frames 3, 4 are inter-connected by disconnectible means providing pivoted links to enable the upper frame to be lowered, while remaining parallel to the lower one, to facilitate bed-making. The two bunks may be used as independent beds and their height may be varied by detachable legs. In the form shown the corner posts 14, 15 of the respective bed frames are hollow profile members and the inter-connecting means comprise links 13 with end members 11, 12 pivoted thereto at 7..10 respectively, the members 11, 12 being formed with pins to fit into the ends of the frame members 14, 15. Legs 20, with pins 21 fitting into the frame members, support the structure with the beds at the required height. To assist return of the upper bunk to its raised position weight-compensating springs may be provided, e.g. tension or compression springs connected diagonally between the upper and lower frames or torsion springs associated with the pivots Figs.2 - 4, (not shown).
