Abstract

1331916 Caged nuts COMPAGNIE DE MATERIEL ET D'EQUIPEMENTS TECHNIQUES 21 March 1972 [5 May 1971] 13190/72 Addition to 1265583 Heading F2H A nut 1 is anchored to a panel 5 by a plastics cage comprising a thin-walled tubular body 6 having longitudinal openings 7 through which project radial lugs 2 on the nut to allow axial but not angular movement of the nut in the cage, the tubular body 6 being open at one end and having a continuous external and internal flange 10 at the other end, the internal flange defining a central hole 21 having a diameter equal to that of the nut bore. Lugs 11 under the external flange co-operate with slots 4 extending from the hole 3 in the panel 5 to prevent rotation of the cage. Preferably the external flange has a sealing lip 19 and the internal flange has a lip (23) (Fig. 3, not shown) at its inner edge. The diameter D of the hole 21 equals the root diameter of the thread on a screw 14 which co-operates with the nut 1, to resist loosening of the screw.
